High Heat Paint :: Updating To-Do List

Just wanted to share a quick project with you!
Painting the Fireplace Doors.

We did just talk about this HERE.  And I did pull for brass, honest engine.  I just so badly wanted to paint those fireplace doors.  Tried to give brass a chance…  but in true flip flop fashion, I changed my mind… and in less than one hours time, the old brass was gone.  Yes, my friends, it was a good decision.

Taped off the glass doors (not necessary, just ridiculously monotonous) and sanded down the brass.

I used Rust-Oleum’s High Heat paint in Satin Black.  It goes on so easy, no need for painter’s tape.  Also, it dries to a fairly matte finish, and actually looks like oil-rubbed bronze.  I love it, two thumbs up.  {Just an FYI, I only used about 1-2 oz. of this paint, a little goes a long way}

I was worried that a darker surround would be too drastic, but it actually seems understated in the room.  It even tames the dark grout, which may no longer need painted.  Even the hubby commented on what an improvement it was… Score one for the home team.

Speaking of projects, time to update the House To-Do List.

I’m considering this personal motivation… keep myself accountable on all the little projects I had in mind for our humble abode.  Fessin’ up on the world wide web sorta makes you stick to the plans (*almost always)

Let’s hear it for Progress…
(list has been amended; I reserve the right to change it as my heart desires & wallet sees fit)
  1. Order dining room chairs
  2. Sitting room rug
  3. Paint fireplace doors (brass to bronze)
  4. Paint master bathroom vanity
  5. Paint kids bathroom vanity
  6. Frame mirror in kids bathroom
  7. Finish curtains in son’s bedroom
  8. Headboard for son’s bedroom
  9. Refinish daughter’s dresser ????
  10. Build daughter’s bed (w/ help from Ana White & my dad) ????
  11. Remove wallpaper/Paint stairway
  12. Paint upstairs trim/baseboard/woodwork (and this is last for a reason… holy awful)
  13. Paint Sitting Room/Dining Room/Add Moulding
  14. Painted Master Bedroom Walls/Closet
  15. Rearranged Family Room/added new furniture
  16. Window Treatment for Laundry Room
  17. Refinish/Paint Secretary for Master Bedroom

I LOVE crossing things off… but I find the more I accomplish, the longer the list becomes!?!?  I am still minimizing my material focus; however, nesting in my home is one of my passions & only increases the growing number of projects.
{ps, the Nester’s article on passion {HERE} gave me great inspiration on this}

Happy Monday
