DIY Jingle Bell Garland

Hello friends!  Its finally the week of Thanksgiving… and for many people that means pulling out the greenery & lights.

My little sister B has a fantastic tree in her family room… just a skinny drink of water in the corner.  Its filled with smart little trinkets and a fantastic garland that YOU can make (more on that in a bit)!

For ornaments, B used wedding gift toppers from Williams Sonoma.  She saved all the rich green ribbon and metal pineapple toppers from her wedding gifts… and they look perfect on her tree.  Smart little tart.  You could achieve a similar look with vintage/old tart or cookie forms from antique shops.

About the garland… On a recent shopping excursion, we came across this charming garland; it mimics Santa’s leather sleigh reins!  We thought this would be an EASY peasy afternoon project.

What you need
  • felt (cut into long strips; can be sewn together), or brown ribbon (grosgrain)
  • package of jingle bells
  • hot glue (or thread for you overachievers!)

Instructions

1.  If you choose felt and cannot find pre-cut strips…purchase sheets and/or yards of felt and cut into long strips.  Sew the ends together to form garland.  If you choose ribbon, simply cut to desired length!  Leather trim would also be a good option!

2. Attach your jingle bells approx. 4 inches apart.  Hot glue makes this a cinch!

3.  String around your tree and admire your handiwork!

Just because... I thought I would also share B’s beautiful mantle!  [As you may have read here before, she’s in the process of remodeling & decorating her first home!]  The jingle bell garland would even look great in her wreath!
