Fan Project: What a breeze (har, har)!

There are no guarantees with spray paint.  The cap on the can isn’t always the color spraying out… the color spraying out may be splotchy at best.  Oh yes, it can work miracles, but it would be an understatement to say that it makes me crazy nervous.

Then… I saw THIS on Better After.  Say what?  You can spray paint a fan?  Well why not.

BEFORE

We started with this cheapie, Miss Hawaiian Breeze.  I have one in each of the little Starrs’ bedrooms, the perfect white noise to keep them snoring all night long.

Dissemble… and remember how it goes back together (Forgot that part with the first fan. Fun.)

AFTER #1

For little boy Starr, its Rustoleum – Oil Rubbed Bronze.   Looks just like those pricey little numbers in all the design catalogs, but cost the equivalent of two lattes.

AFTER #2

For little girl Starr, Krylon – Ballet Slipper.  Voila, it blends with the rest of her decor… and while the control freak in me prefers a fan hidden, sacrifices must be made in order to keep her sleeping THROUGH THE NIGHT!

Genius.  Cheap.  Kinda chic.  Fan-tabulous I must say.  Let me know what you think!

Those do look expensive! hmm... I'm inspired, but like my hubbie said last night, "you always plan on painting things and never do"... the truth hurts!

Kate,

They look great! I bet if you were to purchase these at a Pottery Barn for Kids they'd cost a pretty penny.

you're so resourceful!!:) They look great...

You inspire me to get my buns moving and paint the shelves in Noah's nursery - right now they're just unfinished wood...

That is brilliant! They look high-end and fabulous! I would not have thought of painting a fan either!!

I just love these! This is what you were telling me about! I would love to try it, but I probably wouldn't be able to put the fan back together after disassembling it ;) Stacey

I was just shopping for fans yesterday. The cool vintage looking ones were too expensive and the cheap ones looked like cheap ones. Now I know I can transform them. I'm heading back to the store. Thanks for the inspiration!

NO WAY! Thanks for posting this! I have wanted a black little fan for the last 10 years and I have scoured shops and cringed at prices. Now I'm going to be making one! Fab idea ;0)

I love the fans! I'm on a new spray paint kick myself... A healthy one! LOL! I've taken to refinishing old lamps from thrift stores. Your fans look great. Thanks for visiting me this weekend. Happy Friday. =)

LOVE! Very cute. I am partial to the pink one... maybe because I can picture it in my little girls room. Great work, thanks for the idea.
